UGA's Fall Family Conference

The Utah Genealogical Association is excited to announce their Fall conference "Come Climb Your Family Tree"


Bring your family to explore your roots: the Utah Genealogical Association Fall Conference will be a new kind of event for teens and adults.  Classes, vendors and activities will include all experience and interest levels.  Activities for young children from 1pm to 4pm Saturday.

This fall we've focused on a family friendly conference to enhance the record numbers this year with teenage involvement at the Riverton Family History Center, the Family History Library and in indexing the 1940 census.   There are two hours of classes Friday evening on the latest technology and getting started as a beginner that are perfect genealogists and people just getting started.  With a fresh schedule and vendor's activity booths, this will be different than any genealogy conference you've ever seen. 

Friday September 21, 9:00AM-8:30 PM and Saturday September 22, 9:00 AM-5:30 PM.  Lunches will be available for pre-order and pizza and snacks will be available to purchase Friday evening.  

The conference will be at the Sandy Campus of Salt Lake Community College near the 106th South off ramp of I-15

There is individual, family and partial conference pricing and a free Family History Consultant track.  Limited seating available.

Cedar City's Summer UGA Conference

Cedar City's first ever Family History Conference will be held Aug.18, 2012 at the Hunter Conference Center on the Southern Utah University campus. It will be a one day event with sessions on local history presented by people in the know.  We will have presentations on Historic Trails of Southern Utah, the Frontier Homestead State Park, and the First Settlers of Cedar City.  There will also be classes on how to do foreign research including Scandinavian, Irish, and English research.

Presenters are coming to teach  about how to write our family histories, teach about DNA genealogical research, and reading Early American Handwriting.  There will also be sessions that are just for fun including story telling and music from the past. The day will begin at 8;30 A.M. with keynote speakers Dixie and Anne Leavitt and the the day will end at 4:30 following a closing address from Harold Grant Shirley.  Come and spend a special day with us on one of Utah's beautiful college campuses.  Registration is online at the Utah Genealogical Association website found at http://www.ugagenealogy.org.

Family ChartMasters will be there.  Be sure to stop and say "Hi."  And while you are at it, Cedar City is the home of Utah's Shakespearean Festival.  Stay an extra day to take in a world class play while you are there.  You'll be glad you did.

Summer Family History Conference


The first Annual UGA Summer Family History Conference will be held on August 19-20, 2011 at the Larry H. Miller Campus of the Salt Lake Community College.

The two-day conference features over 140 classes in 13 tracks for a maximum experience for everyone from a beginning genealogist to a seasoned professional.
 
Chair of the Conference is Kathy Palmer, UGA Board Member and chair of several former South Davis Family History Center Fairs.  Now in an expanded format and sponsored by the Utah Genealogical Association, the Conference is expected to attract 1000+ participants.
 
Registration is now open at a very reasonable $20.00 for the entire conference ($15.00 for current UGA members) and there is also an option to either join or extend your UGA membership at a 40% reduced rate of $25.00 for one year.
