Jimmy B. Parker Scholarship Announcement
The SLIG
Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that Ellen Kowitt is the
recipient of the Jimmy P. Parker Scholarship award for SLIG 2021. This
scholarship is awarded to the applicant who successfully demonstrates the
spirit of service and giving back to the genealogical community as exemplified
by Jimmy B. Parker. Congratulations Ellen, and thank you to all who
applied!
Ellen Kowitt is National Vice
Chair of DAR's Lineage Committee Jewish Task Force; Director of JewishGen's
newly formed US Research Division; President of the Colorado Chapter of the
Association of Professional Genealogists; and participates in ProGen Cohort
#46. She has held many volunteer positions over 25 years in the genealogy
community and continues to mentor lecture, and index records online, as well
as in person at the Colorado State Archives. Ellen has documented families and
communities from Ukraine and she looks forward to participating in the SLIG
2021 course, “Mother Russia: Research in the Countries of the Former Russian
Empire and USSR.”
