November is Native American Heritage Month



In tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans, the following
organizations are holding special events throughout the month of November:

  • Library of Congress
  • National Archives and Records Administration
    • November 3: NARA is hosting Native American Stories Family Day
    • November 23: Celebration with Wampanoag National Singers and Dancers held at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, MA.

  • National Endowment for the Humanities
  • National Gallery of Art
  • National Park Service
  • Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian
    • November 17-18: Hopi Tribal Festival
    • November 23: The museum is hosting a "Family Fun Friday" where Native culture will be demonstrated through hands-on activities, etc.
  • United States Holocaust Memorial Museum



While not being held in November, SLIG 2019 has a course dedicated to Native American Research with Coordinator Rick Fogarty. Rick and his talented team of instructors will educate students on how to break down their brick walls for their Native American ancestors.
