SLIG Fall Virtual 2022: Advanced Hispanic Research

Do you have Hispanic ancestors? Do you want to become proficient in researching Hispanic genealogy? Competent researchers in Hispanic family history are in high demand. This course will help you advance your research skills to the next level.

Advanced Hispanic Research, coordinated by Debbie Gurtler, AG, will be offered during SLIG Fall Virtual 2022. Instruction will be provided on records and resources for almost every Spanish-speaking country. This course will help you to:

  • Extend your Hispanic research knowledge beyond the basics for the southwest United States, Latin America, and Spain;
  • Gain in-depth knowledge in civil registration, census, and parish records;
  • Acquire new skills using notarial records, military records, and other out-of-the-ordinary record types;
  • Identify migration patterns throughout the Hispanic colonial world;
  • Locate records and record collections found in archives around the world.

Some experience reading documents in Spanish is very helpful, but not required.

Advanced Hispanic Research is scheduled to meet Thursday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Mountain Time, September 15 through November 17, 2022.
